IN Police Suspect Distracted Driving Caused 25-Year-Old to Run Through Stop Sign, Striking Pickup Truck in the Process
Drivers today are more distracted than ever. Some are busy texting away on their cell phones while others are lost in conversation with their passengers. Despite what form of distraction a driver allows themselves to engage in, either way, they contribute to making the roadway a more dangerous place to be. And regardless of the number of wrecks that occur, many motorists continue to engage in distracted driving simply because they haven’t yet gotten into an accident themselves.
The truth is, no one ever anticipates that they are going to be the next victim of car accident, but we are here to tell you that now is the time to take precaution while driving to avoid placing yourself and those traveling with you in a dangerous or even deadly situation. News sources constantly highlight details from tragic accidents that occur that not only result in individuals sustaining life-threatening injuries, but also those who don’t survive the wreck. In fact, ABC 12 recently reported that a driver in Michigan struck and killed a driver from Indiana after he failed to stop at a stop sign. The news source stated that a 61-year-old man had been driving in his pickup truck when he approached an intersection. As he went through it, a 25-year-old driver who police believe may have been distracted, ran through the stop sign and crashed into the driver’s side of the pickup truck.
As a result of the impact, the truck rolled over and both vehicles landed in a ditch next to a cornfield. The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene and the 25-year-old driver was taken to the hospital. He was said to have been in critical condition. Police stated that they would be investigating the accident to determine the true cause of it but suspect that distracting driving may have played a role it occurring.
The truth is, distracted drivers are all around us each and every day and if you aren’t keeping a close eye out for them, you could be the next victim of a distracted driving wreck.
